SCISOL

SciSol is a youth-oriented programme organised in connection with the 38th Kerala Science Congress to be held at St. Albert’s College (autonomous), Ernakulam. The initiative aims to inspire young minds to identify and propose scientific and technological solutions to societal issues in the district were the Kerala Science Congress is conducted (Ernakulam district in the year 2026).

Objectives

  • Encourage youth to apply scientific thinking and creativity to real-life local challenges.
  • To promote a problem-solving mindset and interdisciplinary collaboration among young people.
  • To highlight the role of science and technology in sustainable community development.
  • Provide a platform for the youth to propose practical and sustainable solutions that can make a tangible social impact.

Eligibility

  • Teams comprising youth aged 15 to 25 years from Kerala are eligible to participate.
  • Participants must be residents of Kerala.
  • Each team may have a minimum of 2 members and a maximum of 5 members. Individual participation is not encouraged.
  • Teams may include participants affiliated to different institutions.

Theme

  • Participants are invited to identify pressing local challenges in Ernakulam District that can be addressed through scientific or technological solutions
  • Each team should propose a solution supported by scientific reasoning, innovation, and feasibility.
  • Both conceptual and prototype-based proposals are welcome.

Application Process

Evaluation Criteria
The submitted proposals will be screened by an Expert Committee and shortlisted proposals will be invited for presentation at the Kerala Science Congress venue. Projects will be evaluated based on:

  • Relevance of the identified problem
  • Scientific basis of the proposed solution
  • Originality and creativity
  • Feasibility and impact potential
  • Clarity of presentation

Awards and Recognition
Selected teams will be given an opportunity to present their proposals during the Kerala Science Congress. Outstanding entries may be recognized with certificates of merit and the best entry will be awarded Rs. 50,000/- as cash prize.

General Instructions

  • All submissions must be the original idea/ work of the team.
  • The organisers reserve the right to modify programme details if necessary.
  • Participants must adhere to the rules and the decision of the Expert Committee and Judging Committee will be final.
