Dr. Jackson James

Dr. Jackson James is Scientist-G and Head of the Neuro-Stem Cell Biology Laboratory at the BRIC–Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (BRIC-RGCB), Thiruvananthapuram.He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at BRIC-Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad. He holds a Ph.D. in Biotechnology (Molecular Neurobiology) from Cochin University of Science and Technology and has over two decades of experience in neuroscience and stem cell research. Dr. James received post-doctoral training in neural stem cell and transplantation biology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, USA. His research focuses on neural stem cell regulation, neurogenesis, retinal biology, and molecular mechanisms underlying brain development and neurological disorders. He is a recipient of several prestigious honours, including the National Bioscience Award (DBT) and election as a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Neuroscience. Dr. James has served on multiple national scientific committees and task forces, contributing to policy, ethics, and research governance in life sciences. He has an extensive publication record in leading international journals and has successfully guided numerous Ph.D. scholars. In addition to his research contributions, he has played a significant role in academic leadership and institution-building at BRIC-RGCB.
